  1. Go to the website: https://srd.sassa.gov.za
    This is the real site only. Do not use any other links otherwise it may be a scam.
  1. Scroll down:
    It will say “How do I change my banking details?”
    Below it you will find a block: “Already applied?” – just enter your ID number there.
  2. Enter your ID number:
    Enter your South African ID number (13 digits) – the same number you gave in the application.
  3. Wait for the SMS:
    An SMS with a secure link will come to your registered number.

Note: This link is only valid for a limited time. Open it quickly.

  1. Click on the link enter the new bank details: Now a page will open where
  • Select Bank or Cash Send
  • Bank Name
  • Account Number
  • Account Type (Savings or Current)
  • Account Holder Name (Your name must match your ID)
  1. Submit This Application Now

SASSA will now verify your account. This may take 7 to 14 days. You will receive the money only after it is verified.

Important Tips To Fallow For This

  • Only use your own account. If you register an account under someone else’s name, it will be rejected.
  • Don’t make any mistakes. If even one digit is incorrect, the payment will fail.
  • If you have a bank account, avoid sending cash. It causes a lot of hassle.

Why do you need to update your banking details?


If you have any systems linked to government such as:

  • BISP payments
  • Ehsaas program
  • NSFAS (South Africa)
  • or any subsidy/relief

Then your bank account must be absolutely correct. Name, number, bank everything must match.

If there is an error, the money will either be delayed, or rejected, or held in “pending”.

Enter ID (or CNIC)


You will need to enter your ID number 13-digit SA ID in South Africa, CNIC number in Pakistan our payment is linked to this ID.

Secure link is sent via SMS


You will receive an SMS on your registered number it contains a secure link.This link will open a form where you can enter your new banking details.

Important:

  • The link is only valid for a short time.
  • If the SIM is switched off or the number has gone – you will have to update the number first.

Enter new bank details

There are some basic things that need to be entered in the form.

  • Bank name (e.g. Capitec, HBL, Standard Bank, etc.)
  • Account number (enter correctly after verification)
  • Account type (Savings or Current)
  • Account holder name – your name should match the ID.

Submit and wait for verification

Your details are verified by the bank.This takes 7 to 14 working days. Sometimes it can be longer.Once it is verified, your status is updated it changes to “Approved” or “Payment”.

Nowadays people apply for SASSA R350 grant, it gets approved too, but gets stuck on payment – only because the banking details are not entered properly.

Now suppose you have opened a Tyme Bank account and want SASSA’s R350 to come directly into that account then this post is only for you.

TymeBank Details Update Method

  1. Go to the official SASSA site: https://srd.sassa.gov.za
    This is the official site. Do not click on any other link – it could be a scam.
  2. Scroll down and find “Change Banking Details”.
    Below there will be a section – “Previously Applied”
    You will need to enter your ID number there – the same one you used when applying for the grant.
  3. You will receive an SMS with a secure link.
    You will receive a link SMS on your registered cell phone number. By clicking on this link, you will get a form where you can fill in your TymeBank details.

Important Notice For This:


The link will expire soon, so open it immediately.If the SIM is damaged or the number has changed you will need to update the number with SASSA first (this is a bit of a lengthy process.

Fill in the TymeBank information

You will need to fill in the following in the form:

  • Account Type: Savings
  • Bank Name: TymeBank
  • Branch Code: 678910 (this is default for TymeBank)
  • Account Number: Your TymeBank account number
  • Account Holder Name: Your name – this should match exactly with the ID.

Check and enter. If even one number is incorrect, the money is sent back to SASSA.

Submit and wait for confirmation

Your details are verified by the SASSA system and TymeBank.If everything matches, the status changes from “Bank details pending” to “Approved” or “Payment”Verification usually takes 7 to 14 business days. Sometimes it takes a little longer, you have to be patient.
